The Overview
Overwatch sits at the intersection of character-driven storytelling and highly competitive esports. This work explores the development of visual systems that support both sides of the brand—ranging from early esports identity exploration to scalable digital campaign assets designed for performance-driven marketing.
The Challenge
The Overwatch brand is inherently vibrant and character-rich, while esports branding demands clarity, boldness, and instant recognition. The challenge was to create designs that could:
Maintain the personality and energy of the Overwatch universe
Scale effectively across broadcast, digital, and social environments
Balance expressive identity exploration with structured, system-driven outputs
For digital banners specifically, the added constraint was designing within tight spatial limitations while ensuring strong visual hierarchy and readability.
The Impact
The work contributed to the evolution of Overwatch’s visual presence across both esports and digital marketing, combining expressive identity exploration with structured, performance-driven design systems. As a longtime fan of the franchise—and a dedicated Pharah main—the opportunity to shape visuals within this universe brought an added level of personal investment, influencing a thoughtful and authentic approach to the work. This connection helped ensure the designs not only performed functionally across platforms, but also resonated with the community.

For the Overwatch League, I contributed to the development of team identities for the Paris Eternal, Guangzhou Charge, and Vancouver Titans, each requiring a distinct visual language rooted in regional identity and competitive energy. The design approach balanced bold, iconic silhouettes with scalable typography systems to ensure clarity across broadcast, merchandise, and digital platforms.
Each mark drew from localized cultural references—the Gallic rooster for Paris, electric and futuristic energy for Guangzhou, and strength and mythology-inspired forms for Vancouver—while maintaining cohesion within the broader Overwatch League brand. The result was a set of team logos that felt unique, ownable, and built for both fan recognition and long-term franchise growth.

Overwatch League
For Overwatch — Retribution, I contributed to the development of a logo that captured the darker, more covert tone of the event while expanding on the established Overwatch visual language. The design centered on a tactical, stripped-back approach, incorporating a pulse sensor motif and fractured typography to introduce tension and instability—subtle narrative cues that teased the story.
In addition to the logo, I developed a key visual for the campaign that extended across a range of digital formats, ensuring a cohesive and impactful presence throughout the launch. The event went on to become one of the most played in Overwatch history, with the visual direction helping to reinforce its tone and narrative intrigue across all touchpoints.

Overwatch Open Division
Developed a logo for the Overwatch Open Division, the grassroots competitive tier that served as a qualifier path into the Overwatch League. The goal was to create a mark that felt competitive, aspirational, and accessible—capturing the intensity of organized play while remaining true to the established Overwatch brand.
Developed a wide range of digital banner campaigns for Overwatch, creating bold, fast-paced visuals that captured the game’s energy and hero-driven identity. Working across multiple formats and platforms, I translated new content, seasonal events, and hero updates into clear, high-impact creative designed to stop the scroll. I focused on strong composition, dynamic color, and sharp typography to maintain brand consistency while delivering a high volume of polished, performance-driven assets.
